First job in the books

Well, we did it. We got our first job done and it was, if I may be so bold, a smashing success!
The food was excellent, the beer was cold, the band was jamming, and the audience was happy (and stayed all night).

I’m happy that our first job was at such a wonderful, warm place. Everyone just makes you feel right at home at “The Citz”.
The staff (and the “regulars”) are just plain nice, friendly people. I can’t say enough good things about them.

I’ve been playing bass and singing on and off for 20+ years, but last night was the first time I ever mixed a band.
I researched quite a bit before we took the stage, and I think the biggest thing I learned (and had confirmed by everyone there),
was that people appreciate not having to scream to be heard. The compliments I got we’re almost always in the order of
“Man, you guys sound awesome! I can’t believe how good it sounds and yet I can talk to my wife/friend/patron without screaming”.
One gentleman told me he is deaf in one ear, and normally the bands he hears are so loud that it’s just a muddy mess and he can’t make anything out.
What really touched me was when he said that we sounded so good and clear that he stayed all night because he’d never heard anything so wonderful.

So, first job in the books, and I couldn’t be happier.

Thanks to everyone that came to see us, and we hope to see you again soon.
